The Coalition's Students Knocking Out Kudzu program began with high school student volunteers. One objective for 2007 was to find out whether students who are younger than high school age would enjoy working on kudzu removal. Jane Nicol teaches at St. Paul The Apostle Catholic School on Dean St. in Spartanburg, and has a group of fourth, fifth, and sixth graders in her Environment Club. Jane invited the Coalition to give a one hour presentation in early November 2007. The kids liked the discussion — especially with Coalition volunteer Paul Savko.

St. Paul School invited us back to help them kill kudzu that was growing across the street from the school. It looks like they not only liked killing kudzu as the photograph shows, but they also hit the kudzu a sizeable blow! November 2007.
