An anonymous donor has kindly provided funding for several awards. These awards will be called "Kudzu Coalition Youth Awards", and include prizes for two categories, grades 6 - 8 and grades 9 to 12. All prizes will be awarded at the Kudzu Kapers event on Saturday, April 19, between 9 AM and 12 noon. In case of rain, the event will be held on Sunday, April 20, between 1 PM and 4 PM.

Youth Art and Writing Awards For the benefit of teachers, Art and Writing Requirements and Criteria 2008 can be printed out and posted for display. The same link provides the application form for students.

The awards are, as follows.

  1. Art awards to individual students.
    1. $100 First Prize for grades 6 to 8 and $100 First Prize for grades 9 to 12
    2. $ 25 Second Prize for grades 6 to 8 and $25 Second Prize for grades 9 to 12
  2. Writing awards to individual students.
    1. $100 First Prize for grades 6 to 8 and $100 First Prize for grades 9 to 12
    2. $ 25 Second Prize for grades 6 to 8 and $25 Second Prize for grades 9 to 12
  3. Community Service Award: The anonymous donor has also provided funding for a $50 prize to the high school or middle school with the most student hours working on kudzu outdoors during 2008. Time in kudzu training at Kudzu Kollege or in the classroom is included in the total time. New!
  4. Kudzu Kapers Events: Additionally, four more prizes of $50 each will be awarded for events or judging that takes place at Kudzu Kapers on April 19. The group awards will be given to the club, class, or organization most responsible for the achievement. New!
    1. Largest kudzu crown removed after January 1, 2008.
    2. Kudzu crown-toss for distance. This is an individual award.
    3. Kudzu crown-throw for accuracy. This is an individual award.
    4. Student attendance at Kudzu Kapers, and present at the time awards are given.
