Conestee Foundation asked the Coalition for help removing small outbreaks of kudzu at the Lake Conestee Nature Park, south of Greenville. The travelling Kudzu SWAT Team responded!
One of the kudzu patches was attacked during the visit. Coalition volunteer Paul Savko (left) shows Seth Harrison of Conestee how to remove kudzu crowns using a pruning saw to kill individual plants. August 2006.
Note kudzu vines cut at about head-height on the tree behind Conestee's Jim Gossett. This "gapping" puts vines out of reach of other vines. Hopefully, all crowns were removed from the ground so kudzu vines shall not return. But if any hibernating crowns were missed, it shall be much harder for new vines to climb the tree. August 2006.
